Case Study 1
American Moulding and Millwork Solution
American Moulding & Millwork Company (AMMC) has over 90 years of wood manufacturing experience, and has grown into a seasoned supplier of real wood furniture and cabinetry.
AMMC dates back to 1910, operating as Stockton Box Company, producing wooden containers for California's farm produce market. Through the years AMMC has grown into one of the nations leading manufactures of real wood furniture and cabinetry. Our dedication to our customers, employees and state of the art manufacturing practices are the keys to American Moulding & Millwork's success.
The Opportunity
With AMMC’s expansion into mass retailer Lowe’s, there was a need to ramp up production on select product offerings.
The Solution
Valley Supply Chain worked hand in hand with AMMC to identify opportunities to provide support. The outcome was to have Hudson-Shorts assemble specialized pre-packaged hardware kits essential to each product, thus allowing AMMC to focus entirely on their core competency.
Valley Supply Chain established a warehouse operation that manages kitting/sub-assembly, shipping, receiving, inventory management, quality sampling and transportation of 10 different products. 300 units a day are assembled and quality sampled. Summary of process performed by Valley Supply Chain for AMMC:
- Component Procurement
- Transportation
- Inventory Management of components and completed assemblies
- Product assembly
- Quality sampling
- Labeling
- Shrink wrapping
- Shipping
- Receiving
The Results
With the support of Valley Supply Chain, AMMC was able to meet all store sets on time and is prepared to support future sales and production for 2004.

Case Study 2
Greenheck Solution
Greenheck is the leading supplier of air movement and control equipment that includes fans, dampers, louvers, kitchen ventilation hoods, and energy recovery and make-up air units. Greenheck equipment is used in all types of commercial, institutional, and industrial buildings in applications from comfort ventilation to manufacturing processes. The company has sales in excess of $210 million annually, employs more than 1,450 and has over a million square feet of manufacturing space.
The Opportunity
Greenheck consistently invests substantially in new facilities designed to better serve its customers. During each of the last five years, Greenheck has increased its manufacturing space by an average of more than 65,000 square feet. The most recent expansion projects were a 50,000-square-foot addition to its Schofield damper and louver plant in 1998 and a 72,000-square-foot centrifugal fan manufacturing center and corporate headquarters in 1997, also in Schofield. Both of those facilities were built in response to increasing demand for dampers and louvers used to control airflow, and for the company's heavy duty lines of centrifugal, vane axial and tube axial fans used in industrial settings.
The Solution
Having been awarded the contract, Valley Supply Chain worked hand in hand with Greenheck to establish an offsite sub-assembly facility that would support the main production line in the Sacramento operation. Within one week, the operation was fully equipped, staff trained and production started.
Valley Supply Chain established a warehouse operation that manages sub-assembly, shipping, receiving, inventory management, bench test and transportation of 27 different products. 3500 units a day are assembled and bench tested for delivery. Summary of process performed by Valley Supply Chain for Greenheck:
The Results
Since Valley Supply Chain began it’s operation for Greenheck in July of 2003, the Sacramento facility has re-designed and expanded it’s main production lines to meet growth projections.
Working closely with Greenheck, Valley Supply Chain continues to look for creative ways to improve and support future growth.
